Confused about where to start your travel blog? Start with a simple hotel review.
I was a bit overwhelmed about where to start with travel blogging. When I travel I don’t really think to take the time to write about my experiences. I usually take a bunch of pictures, rarely of myself, and that’s it. They basically sit on my phone and take up space on my hard drive. I think I was waiting for that “one day” that led to many years.
The “how-to” sections on many travel and lifestyle blogging sites are great to get the page set up. It is a little light on actual content creations. The more I thought about it, I realized that it’s probably better that I figure this part out on my own. How are you going to get your unique voice across if you’re just copying someone else’s template?
So during my travels across the country this summer I just chose the moment and decided to start simple. My first review was of the aloft hotel in downtown Cleveland. I was passing through town and decided to look for a hotel with a waterfront view. My room was upgraded to a corner room thanks to my platinum status with Marriott Bonvoy.
Without further ado, here it is:
I welcome all feedback of course. Hopefully, this is the first of many reviews. The goal is to save my writeups and use these to create my destination reviews.
While not everyone may want to know about the world’s largest teapot (Chester, WV), my future writings are what I am focused on. WordPress has a few plugins that help with SEO and the readability of content. But it really comes down to using my unique voice. I think I can improve my style to really capture the essence of important locations such as Osaka, Japan, or Cape Town, South Africa.
