I started traveling for work about 10 years ago. When I first started I relied heavily on the advice of my coworkers as to the best airlines and hotel chains to travel with. I was based out of Boston so American Airlines and Marriott Hotels just seemed to make sense. Boston isn’t really a hub for the major airlines but they all fly there. American Airlines also gave me the option to fly out of Bradley (BDL) and Providence (PVD).

I was advised to sign up for the loyalty programs. Little did I know I would be starting a lifelong journey down a deep and scary path. Points and miles are great. They are also an easy way to get stuck into one carrier or hotel brand. In this section, I am looking to highlight my experiences, give advice, and help future travelers navigate the points game.
